Flow / Aprille Janes
June 18 - July 30, 2022
Flow is a concept that applies to water as well as to the creative process.
Water is an endlessly fascinating paradox. It’s so common we tend to take it for granted and yet it has very unique properties. It can be liquid, solid or gas. Its solid form is less dense than its liquid form, so ice floats. It powers huge machines but you can bathe a baby safely. Spending time by a body of water reduces stress and yet it can destroy when uncontrolled.
Creative flow is best described as being so engaged in an activity that time seems to melt into the background. The challenge of capturing water in all its forms and beauty creates Flow in my painting practice.
Aprille Janes is an artist who paints in both watercolour and oil. Her studio overlooks the Bay of Fundy which inspires her work on a daily basis.
Aprille received an ARTSPLACE Scholarship in 2021, to assist her studies in the arts.
